THE dream job for boaties and fishing fanatics who want to operate a caravan park is here.

Douglas Shire Council is now accepting expressions of interest for caretaker services at the Wonga Beach Caravan Park – one of the tropical north’s best kept secrets.

The absolute beachfront caravan park is located on a beautiful stretch of deserted tropical beach, featuring scenic views of Coral Sea and Snapper Island.

The 8,000 m2 site features 35 powered sites, new manager’s undercover shelter, an amenity block, camper’s kitchen, wifi, mobile reception and a coin laundry.

The term of the caretaker arrangement will be for three years with an option of another three one-year extensions.

Council’s Manager of People & Community Services, Mr Terry Farrelly, said this was a prime opportunity for someone, or a couple, looking to live by the sea and manage a caravan park.

“Wonga Beach is close to the Daintree River and Bells Reef just offshore, which makes it a popular area for recreational boating and fishing,” he said.

“Council is seeking an applicant who can provide a high level of customer service and complete various maintenance tasks at the site.

“The caretaker will be entitled to an on-site undercover caravan site, electricity and internet services free of charge.”

Key duties include:

  • Provide an excellent customer service experience to all visitors to the park
  • Take caravan park bookings and allocate van sites
  • Daily cleaning of onsite amenity blocks and all facilities
  • Regular mowing and gardening
  • General garden maintenance of the park
  • Hands-on approach to facility maintenance

Wonga Beach is a beachside suburb located approximately 17kms north of the town of Mossman.
