Douglas Shire Council is calling on locals and visitors to pre-register now for the Yalanji RAW 2025 Reconciliation Run, a free community event celebrating unity, culture, and reconciliation.

This Saturday’s event at Mossman Gorge kicks off at 7am and features three inclusive options: the 1km Deadly Dash, 2.5km Mighty Mossman Mile, and 5km Rainforest Run—offering something for every pace and ability.

Mayor Lisa Scomazzon said pre-registering allows participants to arrive relaxed and ready to focus on the warm-up and enjoy the run or walk on the day.

“It’s free, it’s easy, and by pre-registering, you’ll have the best chance to score a Yalanji RAW t-shirt or handball (while stocks last). It’s a great way to remember the day and show your support for reconciliation,” Mayor Scomazzon said.

“Even if you decide to join us on the day, you’re more than welcome—but pre-registering helps us plan and ensures you’re in the running for free Yalanji RAW gear!”

The event is a highlight of the region’s Reconciliation Week activities and is proudly supported by the Indigenous Marathon Foundation.

Mossman State School is supporting Yalanji RAW, and displaying its commitment to reconciliation, by creating an art installation inspired by the Reconciliation Week theme, ‘Bridging Now to Next.’ Visitors are invited to take a photo in front of the bridge design during Saturday’s event.

Pre-register now via Eventbrite for your opportunity to secure your free merchandise and help organisers deliver a safe, inclusive, and memorable event.
