The 2020/21 Annual Financial Statements have revealed a $1.43 million improvement on budget for Douglas Shire Council.
Councillors today adopted the statements, with the Queensland Audit Office (QAO) advising it will issue an unmodified audit opinion after auditing the statements.
The operating deficit for the year is $2.23m compared to a revised budgeted operating deficit of $3.66m.
The improved operating result was due to increased revenue from:
- Search fees, property fees and tipping fees
- Grant revenue (financial assistance grant, disaster grant revenue and other income)
- Other income – TMR contract works, recycling income
- Savings in expenditure (electricity, landfill & depreciation).
Douglas Shire Council’s Audit Committee also reviewed the financial statements.
