Great news! Council is only weeks away from reconnecting a major water supply to Port Douglas.

Once the pipe replacement project is complete (it will see water flow directly into the Crees Road reservoir) our network will be more resilient.

The water you’re currently seeing running through your taps, toilets and showers is being shifted from one reservoir to another and that’s giving our pumps a decent workout.

To ease pressure on the network, and to keep supplies at high levels, we need your help in following Level 3 water restrictions.

The key things to remember are:

  • Watering by buckets and cans is allowed at any time.
  • Hand-held hoses are allowed between 6pm to 7am for a maximum of 1 hour
  • Automated sprinklers can be used between 6pm to 8am for a maximum of 1 hour, for odd number houses on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and even number houses on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays
  • Manual sprinklers are not permitted any time

The sun is shining and the taps are flowing so we understand why we’ve seen increase in water usage in Port Douglas recently. However, if you can keep water conservation on your mind while this major upgrade is completed then we can all enjoy improved water security in the second half of this year.
