LOCAL kids can jump on and splash around an inflatable obstacle course at the Mossman Pool this Australia Day.
Douglas Shire Council has partnered with the Rotary Club of Mossman to provide the free community event featuring a sausage sizzle, lamingtons, live entertainment, and other free activities on Thursday 26 January.
Mossman Pool staff will again float the popular Aqua Glide to help people beat the heat and celebrate Australia Day.
Douglas Shire Mayor Michael Kerr said the free event would give local families an opportunity to enjoy their Australia Day to the fullest.
“We have done nice improvements to the local pool facilities in the past couple years, and it has really become a place where families can relax,” he said.
“If you have no plans this Australia Day, it is worth grabbing a free BBQ Breakfast in Port Douglas, watching the Australia Day Award ceremony and popping down to the Mossman Pool for the rest of the day.”
The Australia Day event at the Mossman Pool will run from 11am to 3pm.
Council will host the 2023 Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony at the Port Douglas Community Hall on Thursday 26 January.
Mossman & Port Douglas Friends of the Hospital Foundation will host the free barbecue breakfast from 7.30am.
All events are open to the public.
