Overview

Summary

The Shire will see its first splash park completed in 2023.

The splash park will be a huge drawcard for the Mossman Pool precinct, particularly given there are more than 1500 pre-schoolers and primary school students in Douglas Shire, many who live on farms, in Mossman and in the rural beachside neighbourhoods.

The splash park will suit kids young and old allowing users to choose their own level of getting wet. Even smaller toddlers can tentatively make footprints. Parents will love the shady picnic tables and BBQs nearby and they and older children can go into the 50-metre pool for a swim. It will make Mossman Pool the perfect place for families on hot sunny days – all year round.

Design and construction tenders have been awarded to Urban Play Pty Ltd and Aqua Project Solutions Pty Ltd.

The project is funded by Council and the Queensland Government which has offered Council $1.5 million to build splash parks in Mossman and Port Douglas.

Cost of Project

$550,000

The park is expected to be open to the public by August 2023.
