Water crews have located a broken pipe along the Mossman Gorge access road at the first creek crossing, but fear they’re not out of the woods yet.
Repairs are underway on the burst section of the pipeline but there are concerns there may be other breaks in the network.
Once this section is fixed, the Mossman plant will be cranked up again and water fed through to Port Douglas. It’s hoped the pressure remains stable. If not, there may be another break in the system.
Residents are being urged to look out for any abnormal signs of water issues such as a sink hole or water bubbling from the ground. Please report to Council immediately so it can be inspected.
Whyanbeel is still offline as crews closely monitor turbidity levels in the hope the supply will be restored late this afternoon.
Please understand this is an ever-changing situation and we’ll provide new information and updates as soon as possible.
