Incentives to visit our region – Free ‘Douglas Card’

The Daintree River Ferry is the southern gateway to one of the oldest living rainforest and ecosystems on Earth. Our Council warmly welcome and encourage you to come explore and appreciate the natural beauty and experiences our region has to offer.

If you are a resident of Mareeba Shire Council, Tablelands Regional Council, Cairns Regional Council, Cassowary Coast Regional Council and Cook Shire Council regions you have the advantage of being eligible for a Douglas Card. If you are here for business or pleasure please take the time to enjoy the restaurants, cafes, tourist attractions and our tropical lifestyle.

The Douglas Card entitles eligible users between November 1, 2016 and February 28, 2017 free Daintree Ferry travel for regular vehicles such as cars and utilities which may include a trailer, motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians.

Residents from our own and neighbouring regions who register for the Douglas Card also have the bonus opportunity to access some Daintree Rainforest – Great Deals & Discounts to make your time here all that more enjoyable and affordable.

Volunteers are the backbone of every community, giving their time to help the various sporting, cultural, environmental and community organisations in our Shire.

No matter your age, volunteering is a wonderful way to spend time helping others, meet new people, learn new skills, share your own skills and make friends.
