Competition to blossom as Garden Awards OPEN

A COMPETITIVE seed has been planted with entries for the 2019 Douglas Garden Awards officially OPEN.

Douglas Shire Council will start taking entries from gardeners vying for green thumb glory across eight categories.

Douglas Shire Mayor Julia Leu said she was anticipating an exceptionally green showing  this year.

“Gardens are thriving across Douglas Shire at the moment,” she said.

“Although the previous Garden Awards endured a fairly dry period, contestants still produced some really spectacular gardens so I am excited to see what entrants can come up with this time around.

“I am anticipating some lush gardens and innovative ideas.”

There a range of categories for people to enter:

• Residential Garden
• Acreage Garden
• Edible Garden
• Sustainable / Environmental
• Professional Gardener – Residential / Other
• School
• Childcare centre
• Landcare / Farm

Please visit Council’s website to fill out an application form.

Entries close on Friday, July 12.

ABC’s Gardening Australia Costa Georgiadis is returning for finalist judging on Wednesday,  July 31 and Thursday, August 1.
