DOUGLAS Shire Council has joined the #GrowForGold campaign and called on residents to help win Douglas Garden Awards judge, Costa Georgiadis, a TV Week Gold Logie.

Voting for the 61st annual awards has opened and Douglas Shire Mayor Julia Leu wants the Gardening Australia star to bear the official title of ‘Most Popular TV Personality’ when he judges the Douglas Garden Awards this year.

“Let’s #GrowForGold and get right behind Costa for a Gold Logie,” she said.

“We love Costa and can’t wait to welcome him back up to our region when he judges the 2019 Douglas Garden Awards.

“We have a fantastic crop of sponsors on board and numerous entrants who have really shown they are keen to ‘Let it Grow’ a second time around.”

Douglas Garden Awards entrants and sponsors will have an opportunity to meet Costa when he arrives in Douglas Shire next month.

Costa will judge the garden entries on Wednesday, July 31 and Thursday August 1, 2019.

More details about his visit will be made available shortly.

Mayor Leu is calling on residents to visit and cast their vote for the popular gardener.

“Costa is extremely passionate and his love of gardening is infectious,’ Mayor Leu said.

“If you have an impressive garden, or you know someone who does, visit Council’s website and join the Douglas Garden Awards.”

Entries for the 2019 Douglas Garden Awards close on Friday July 12, 2019.
