Residents that currently utilise the Direct Debit service through Council will need to setup with Payble if they wish to continue paying a regular nominated amount towards their Rates and/ or Water accounts.
From 31 October 2024, Council will no longer be processing Direct Debit payments instead the service will be provided through a secure provider Payble (https://pay.douglas.qld.gov.au).
This new service offers some great benefits including SMS reminders of your upcoming payments.
Your rates and/or water direct debit held with Council will be cancelled by 31 October 2024. If you wish to continue to make regular payments to your Rates / Water after this time you will need to register for this new service directly with Payble.

PLEASE NOTE – Rates direct debits with payble are available now. Water Direct debits will be available from your next issued water notice in October. All direct debits will continue to be processed until 31 October 2024 unless cancelled.
Paying and managing your rates/water accounts online with Payble will give you more control and allow you to:
- Scan the QR code on your notice or go to https://pay.douglas.qld.gov.au
- Flexible options at no extra cost (pay weekly, fortnightly, monthly or in full on the due date)
- Choose your payment start date
- Set up automatic direct debit from bank account, credit or debit card
- Receive an SMS reminder before each payment
- Update your frequency or payment information at any time.
- You will need a mobile phone number to set up this payment method.
To avoid any duplicate payments, if you have set up a direct debit with payble prior to 31 October 2024, can you please advise us in writing or phone us so we can cancel your Council direct debit on file.
