Free kerbside disaster waste pick-up

Hard waste and green waste collections are continuing in Cooya Beach and South Arm, with 40 to 60 tonnes collected each day.

Collections have occurred in Mossman, Lower Daintree, Daintree and Wonga Beach.

Council crews have also picked up some green and hard waste in Port Douglas.

We will have more information about servicing areas north of the Daintree River later this week.

Dedicated waste pick-ups have occurred when customers have contacted our customer service team.

Self-hauled disaster waste

A reminder that residents have until close of business this Sunday 14 January for the free disposal of self-hauled disaster waste at Council’s transfer stations.

You can find more information on our waste transfer stations including locations and operating hours on our website at https://douglas.qld.gov.au/…/waste-and-recycling…/

Wheelie bins

Weekly waste and fortnightly recycling kerbside collection have resumed for all residents north to Thornton’s Beach Cafe.

Waste kerbside service is also going into Wangetti each Friday as per usual as well.

Just a reminder:
* Please have wheelie bins out by 6am
* Ensure lids are closed and are free from any water content (which could add weight and prevent service)
* Keep contents to food and general household waste only
Note: Large, heavy items and construction demolition waste placed into wheelie bins will cause your bin to be rejected. This type of waste MUST be taken directly to Council’s Transfer Station.
