Port Douglas Carnivale floats will be parading their best life at this year’s Macrossan Street Parade.

Registrations are now open for floats and walkers to take part in the popular community event on Friday, May 19, presented in partnership with the Property Shop Port Douglas & Mossman.

The parade will kick off at 6.30pm followed by the fireworks display in Anzac Park at 8pm.

Douglas Shire Mayor Michael Kerr said he was excited to see what community groups and businesses would do with this year’s theme.

“Port Douglas offers a laid-back, outdoor lifestyle combining the best of nature with the Daintree Rainforest and Great Barrier Reef.

“It’s no secret people choose to be here, to live their best life – it is what the Douglas lifestyle is all about.

“There is so much scope for creative design and costuming to fit this theme.

“I encourage participants to let their imaginations run wild and create something that truly resembles what their best life looks like to them,” he said.

Vying for a prize pool of $4550, categories include Best Overall Float $2000, Best Business Float $1000, Best Community Float $1000, Best Youth Entry (under 16) $350 and Best Individual (solo act) $200.

Individuals, community groups and businesses are encouraged to be part of the hugely popular event by registering their entries now.
