A TWINKLING light display, tinsel covered bullbars and decorations throughout their workshop won K&M Auto Centre Mossman the Grand Prize in the Douglas Shire’s inaugural Christmas Retail Display Challenge: Merry and Bright.
Presented by the Douglas Chamber of Commerce and Douglas Shire Council, the challenge called on local businesses to decorate their shop fronts for a chance to win a prize.
When judging the retailers last Friday, Deputy Mayor Abigail Noli commended the businesses on their innovative displays.
“There was some fabulous creativity used, with businesses integrating decorations into their general product displays and a great use of local ingredients,” she said.
Douglas Chamber of Commerce President Liz Ross was overwhelmed by the amazing efforts of local businesses to get behind the challenge and decorate their businesses this Christmas.
“We hope the competition will continue to entice businesses to get into the Christmas spirit and the displays will get bigger and brighter each year,” she said.
First prize winners, K&M Auto Centre Mossman won two nights at Hibiscus Resort and Spa, donated by Sanctuary Stays Port Douglas.
Whileaway Book Store and MK Eco by Starwin on Macrossan Street in Port Douglas received $100 fuel vouchers for their creative displays.
Jungle Road Clothing in Port Douglas and The Flower Lady in Mossman were the winners of a Carnivale Package including Carnivale merchandise and tickets to the Spiderbait Concert on 23 May, 2020.
Council would also like to commend real estate agency, The Pink Company who decorated their premises with pictures coloured by local children.
