Summary

The Mossman Pool is undergoing important rectification and upgrades.

The project has encountered an unexpected set-back with extensive damage found to underground pipes surrounding the pool.  As a result the time-frame of the project has been affected.

The original project scope included re-seal works, replacement of broken tiles, installation of new grandstands, painting and beautification works, and installing of new shade sails and lighting.

Council thanks the public for their patience during this time.

Cost of Project

$220,000

The upgrades are 100% funded by the Queensland Government’s  COVID-19 Works for Queensland program.

Council funded the repairs through its Capital Works program.

Repair works are continuing following the discovery of broken underground pipes surrounding the pool. Extensive work is being carried out to replace pipes and concrete pathing. Council will provide an update on the expected re-opening date later in the month. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the delay and thank the public for their patience during this time.

JUNE, 2021

June 23

The Mossman Pool re-opening has been delayed due to the discovery of broken pipes underground next to the pool.

Council contractors discovered the damage to the 30-year-old pipes on the grandstand side of the pool.

Workers will now remove the footpath and replace both pipes to ensure no further leaking when the pool is re-filled.

The discovery of the broken pipes allows Council to fix the issue and eliminate potential water loss in future years.

A pool re-opening date will be confirmed next week.

Teams have been busy with the installation of the new all abilities access ramp, installing new grand stands and roofing, new shade sails, repair of pool tiles and reseal works, installation of new lights, upgrades to BBQ area and new concrete paths.

Council would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by the delay and thank the public for their patience during this time.
