The Department of Transport and Main Roads has advised the Mossman – Mt Molloy Road (Rex Range) will be temporarily closed for night works from Sunday May 10 to Wednesday, May 13, weather permitting.

DTMR Regional Director Sanjay Ram said night closures between 9pm and 4am would allow for line marking to be carried out with minimal traffic impacts.

“The tight corners on Rex Range can make it difficult for traffic, especially heavy vehicles, to negotiate the newly painted, centre line markings,” Mr Ram said.

“Temporarily closing the road while these works are carried out reduces the risk of wet paint being smeared across the road.”

Mr Ram said motorists should consider an alternate route.

“It’s recommended road users detour via Kuranda Range Road and Kennedy Highway,” he said.

QLDtraffic will be updated with closure dates and times and email notification will be released before the closures.

“Variable message signs will be in place at specific locations to advise motorists of changes.

“We appreciate the community’s patience while we carry out these important works.”
