What’s Happening?
Council’s contractor will be undertaking minor works at Rex Smeal Park to install underground infrastructure markers.
The works involve the installation of approximately 40 concrete ground markers that will provide a visual indication of the location of irrigation and electrical infrastructure beneath the park.
When?
Wednesday 3 June to Thursday 4 June 2026
Works are expected to take approximately two days to complete, weather permitting.
Park Access
Rex Smeal Park will remain open during these works.
The works are minor in nature and no park closures are required. Visitors may notice contractors working in various locations throughout the park.
Additional Project Information
As part of Council’s asset management and infrastructure mapping program:
- Drone imagery of the underground trench locations has already been captured.
- GPS surveying of the trench alignments will be undertaken on Monday prior to the installation works.
- The new ground markers will assist with identifying and protecting underground irrigation and electrical services in the future.
Works are subject to weather and site conditions.
