Rev your engines and polish your paintwork as Coastal Show and Shine debuts at Port Douglas Carnivale on 24 May 2026.

The Coastal Show and Shine motor show, supported by the Douglas Shire Motor Sports Association (DSMSA), will see a Sunday showcase of local vintage, classic and unique vehicles line up at Reynolds Park, vying for awards including Best Car, Best Bike, Best Unique Vehicle and the popular People’s Choice Award.

The event will bring together vehicle owners, enthusiasts and spectators for a day dedicated to craftsmanship, character and community spirit.

From showroom shine to road-tested racers, the showcase celebrates the diversity of the local motoring scene.

Local vehicle owners are invited to enter their pride and joy, whether it’s a restored classic with movie-car good looks or a rare rust-bucket packed with personality. Stacie Stephensen, Troy Rowsell and Micheal O’Brien, co-organisers of Coastal Shine and Show, said vehicles and bikes of all kinds were welcome.

“We are looking for local people to bring their cars, bikes, or anything with an engine, out of the garage for the day,” said Stephensen.

“We want as many people to join in the fun as possible. The aim is to fill the park.”

Visitors to Coastal Show and Shine can learn the stories behind the vehicles and, for a gold coin donation, cast their votes across the award categories, with all proceeds supporting a local not-for-profit community group.

The People’s Choice Award, in particular, invites the community to recognise their favourite display of the day, regardless of their reasoning.

“I am a car fanatic, so any vehicle would appeal to me, even an old rusty one, although I would probably look for something with a nice big engine,” Stephensen said.

“That’s what makes the People’s Choice award so much fun. Every exhibitor is in with a chance to win.”

With music, live MC announcements, coffee and a sausage sizzle on site, the community event is more than a motor show. It offers a relaxed, family-friendly setting where visitors can stroll through the displays, chat with owners and take their time exploring the line-up before the Carnivale weekend draws to a close.

Coastal Show and Shine rolls into Reynolds Park on the final day of Port Douglas Carnivale, alongside the Port Douglas Sunday Markets at Anzac Park. These events lead into the closing night of Savannah Sounds at Rex Smeal Park.

Together, they create a full Sunday program, giving visitors another reason to extend their weekend in Port Douglas. For more information on Port Douglas Carnivale and to book tickets, visit www.carnivale.com.au.
