COUNCIL engineers will put the brakes on a speeding hot spot at Wonga Beach.
Douglas Shire Council has resolved to complete an engineering assessment to determine the best location for raised platforms on Marlin Drive.
Community engagement on the proposal will also be completed through this process.
The next step is to finalise a concept layout plan to identify possible locations for raised speed platforms.
Concept layouts will be distributed to the residents on Marlin Drive, emergency services and public transport providers, to gauge the community appetite for this type of traffic calming.
The traffic surveys, which used automatic traffic counters over a two-month period, measured vehicle speed, time of travel, direction of travel and number of vehicles.
The survey recorded some speeds over 100km/h.
