Councillor Roy Zammataro has been elected as Douglas Shire Council’s New Deputy Mayor during the Post Election Meeting held in Mossman today.
This marks Cr Zammataro’s third term serving the community, bringing with him experience, and proving his dedication to the shire. Cr Zammataro was honoured to be nominated by Cr Noli he says.
“I don’t take this role lightly, or for granted. I want to be involved and work together to better our community” he says.
Cr Meadows who was also nominated as Deputy Mayor says he is humbled by the nomination but thrilled to have received Deputy Chair of the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) “We followed the democratic process that we were elected to do” he says, “I congratulate Cr Zammataro in his new role, I am sure he is excited about it, as I am about mine”.
Cr Meadows was nominated as Deputy Chair of the LDMG by Mayor Scomazzon and unanimously voted in. He brings with him nineteen years’ experience sitting on the LDMG from his previous role as the QPS representative.
