COUNCILLORS will embark on a tour of Douglas Shire next month for a series of hands-on community workshops that will give residents and key organisations a forum to influence Council’s next Corporate Plan.

Council is calling for RSVPs to the workshops that will be held in Cape Tribulation, Cow Bay, Mossman and Port Douglas

Chief Executive Officer Mark Stoermer will present the workshop sessions.

It comes as Council extends the deadline for the survey to April 14 to give a greater opportunity and better incorporate the workshops.

Councillor Michael Kerr, Cr Roy Zammataro, Mayor Julia Leu, Deputy Mayor Abigail Noli and Cr David Carey

Douglas Shire Mayor Julia Leu said survey preliminary results would be presented and discussed at the workshops.

“We want to give everyone in Douglas Shire an opportunity to influence how Council operates in the next five years,” she said.

“We have received almost 600 responses to our post card mail-out and online survey in just two weeks.

“The response has been fantastic and we want to keep encouraging everyone to have their say by participating in these important community workshops.”

More post cards will be mailed out this week and the online survey will remain open until the new deadline date.
