On Saturday, 16 March 2024 local government elections will be held throughout Queensland.

Today, Douglas Shire Council, along with 76 other Councils, officially went into “caretaker” mode.

For residents and ratepayers, it’s business as usual for most of the day-to-day Council services.

The Shire’s recovery effort will also not be impacted as elected members, including Mayor Michael Kerr, remain in their roles.

The main change is Councillors cannot make major decisions which would impact a new Council.

Decisions required to maintain the usual operations of Council can still be made.

Councillor workshops will continue, and Ordinary Council Meetings will be held on 27 February and 12 March 2024.
