Residents of flood-affected households are now able to deposit disaster waste (such as green waste, flood debris and flood damaged items from inside their  house and immediately around their home) onto the kerbside for free collection by Council.

Please keep household items separate from your green waste to assist with the collection.

Food waste is to be placed into your waste wheelie bin and not on the kerbside, as kerbside bin services have re-commenced and will operate as per the usual collection schedule.

Killaloe and Newell Transfer Stations will resume normal operating hours as of tomorrow (refer Council website for hours).

Cow Bay and Daintree Transfer Stations will remain closed until further notice.

Council has waived tipping fees at the Transfer Stations for residential disaster waste, which is waste generated as a result of the disaster. It excludes some regulated wastes such as tyres and gas bottles.

Unfortunately, all our waste engine oil storage facilities are currently at capacity so we are unable to accept any quantity and request your assistance by not bringing any at this point in time.

Please call or email if you are unsure or need help with an exemption. Phone 4098 2599 or email enquiries@douglas.qld.gov.au
