Port Douglas Carnivale organisers need you – and you and you and you.
Port Douglas Carnivale is on a recruitment drive for people to help with the huge task of making sure the town’s signature event is as smooth, safe and happy as it is every year.
Community volunteers add much of the fun and atmosphere to the three-day event and are essential to its success.
The commitment doesn’t need to be huge – just one hour would help organisers enormously.
Douglas Shire Mayor Julia Leu said every extra pair of helping hands benefit Carnivale.
“There are many roles available and volunteers don’t need specific skills,” she said.
“We can find a place for you from street marshalling to office work to running messages to helping set up equipment.
“We will harness your enthusiasm, expertise or creativity for a range of roles in anything from the street parade to the family beach day to the Eskimo Joe concert.
“Volunteers are crucial in making Carnivale a wonderful experience for tourists, locals and participants alike.
“They are needed both in the run up to the event and during Carnivale itself from May 24-26.”
