Douglas Shire Council will soon be renewing the section footpath along the southern side of Macrossan Street between Davidson Street and Garrick Street. Refer image below.

A new concrete pathway will be constructed, and the road bitumen will be extended to connect with the pathway. This will tidy up the area, create more formal car parking and eliminate dust.

Construction is estimated to take up to four weeks.  Council does not have a start date as yet, but the project is expected to be completed within the next two months. Once a commencement date is confirmed, an update will be issued.

For the most part, access and egress for vehicles will not be impacted. Vehicle access will, however, be affected when the concrete is being poured across driveways. When this occurs, vehicle access will be impacted for 24-48 hours to enable the concrete to be laid and then cure. Contractors will consult directly with those accommodation places impacted and will provide at least two-days’ notice.
