TRANSITIONING MOSSMAN’S ECONOMY: COMMUNITY MEETING

Background

On 20 November 2023, the Mossman Mill entered voluntary administration and went into liquidation on 22 March 2024. On 28 February 2024, the Queensland Government approved a transition package of up to $12.1 million towards the Mossman Region Transition Program.

In June the Queensland Government allocated $6 million towards the transport and haulage of sugar cane from the Mossman region to the MSF Mill in Gordonvale.

The remaining $5.9 million has been set aside to support the Mossman Transition Plan to look at the best way forward in supporting the future of the Mossman economy.

Mossman Transition Plan

Scyne Advisory have been appointed to deliver the Mossman Transition Plan and has begun working with stakeholders to identify key projects across agriculture, tourism, business and the community.

The plan will be delivered by end of November 2024 for consideration.

Scyne Advisory will be facilitating the following sessions to discuss transitioning the Mossman economy and everyone is welcome.

WHERE:         Mossman Memorial Bowls Club, 4–8 Johnston Road, Mossman
