LOCALS are encouraged to start thinking about how they can make Port Douglas Carnivale 2020 a special tropical celebration.
Douglas Shire Council has locked in May 22-24 next year for another memorable event featuring the iconic Macrossan Street parade, Family beach day, Tropic Rock concert and the Seafood extravaganza.
Council now wants you to get involved in the 2020 Carnivale.
Douglas Shire Mayor Julia Leu said the annual event was an opportunity to connect with the community and kick-start the tourist season.
“Now is the time to start working together and thinking about ways we can present Port Douglas and Douglas Shire as a place where locals love living and tourists love visiting,” she said.
“We would love to hear from you if you want to do something and work towards building momentum and taking Carnivale into the future.
“Now is your chance to show us how it is done and help shape the Carnivale for years to come. If you have a great idea, then now is the time to get it out there.”
A record 20,000 people attended Port Douglas Carnivale over the weekend this year.
Council is seeking local businesses, Community groups, promoters, artists, décor artists, musicians, venues, restaurants, entertainers, performers or whoever wants to be involved in presenting an event during Carnivale.
