The 2019-20 Annual Budget is the first projected budget surplus for Douglas Shire Council since de-amalgamation.

The budget hits the Council’s five-year target of financial sustainability and delivers the lowest general rate rise for some time at 1.8%.

Douglas Shire Council’s 2019-2020 Annual Budget was handed down at a Special Budget Meeting on Tuesday, June 25 2019.

The $45.15 million budget will inject a further $15.34 million worth of projects and plans to achieve 45 operational initiatives.

Utilities charges for water, sewerage and waste will increase by 2.5%.
